Nicacio Gutierrez Among 3 Killed in Sunnyvale Collision on Highway 101
Sunnyvale, California (May 23, 2023) – Nicacio Negrete Gutierrez, 53, of Sunnyvale, was among three people killed in a multi-vehicle collision in Sunnyvale early Monday morning, according to the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office.
The crash happened on Highway 101 just south of Fair Oaks Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. May 22.
Authorities said a Ford pickup truck was traveling northbound on the highway when it slammed into the center divider and came to a rest in the traffic lanes.
Other cars crashed into each other and as the occupants were standing outside to assess the scene, another vehicle struck three of the pedestrians.
At least six vehicles were involved and three people died in the incident.
The victims were identified as Gutierrez, Tyler Tolentino Rasay, 28, of South San Francisco, and Paul August Dennig Jr., 24, of Mountain View.
Five other parties were taken to hospital for treatment.
An investigation into the incident is being handled by the CHP.
