Tanner Abernathy Fatally Hit by Car on New Stine Road in Bakersfield
Tanner Abernathy Killed in Bakersfield Collision on New Stine Road
Bakersfield, California (May 12, 2023) – The man who was fatally hit by a vehicle on Tuesday night in southwest Bakersfield has been identified as Tanner Austin Abernathy, 30, of Bakersfield, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
The wreck took place in the 600 block of New Stine Road at about 9:55 p.m. May 9, in the 600 block of New Stine Road.
Police said Abernathy was attempting to cross the road outside of a crosswalk when a car traveling northbound struck him.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and performed life-saving measures on Abernathy.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the car remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
The Bakersfield Police Department is handling the investigation.
