Kern County, California (November 1, 2022) – Two people were injured in a multi-vehicle collision that happened on a freeway in Buttonwillow on Monday morning.

The crash happened on northbound 5 Freeway near Twisselman Road at around 10:40 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Simranjeet Singh, 20, of Vacaville, was driving a semi-truck northbound on the freeway when he failed to slow down for stopped traffic and collided with four other vehicles.

Allan Shultz, 77 and Susan Shultz, 76, of El Dorado Hills, sustained moderate injuries and were transported to Mercy Hospital for treatment.

The occupants of the other involved vehicles were unhurt.

Officials ruled out drugs and alcohol as factors in the crash.

Additional information about the accident was not provided.

An investigation into the accident is underway.

Buttonwillow, California (October 5, 2022) – One person was killed in a crash involving big rigs in Buttonwillow on Wednesday morning.

At around 5:47 a.m., the California Highway Patrol received reports of a collision on Highway 46 near Gun Club Drive.

Two big rigs and a third car were involved in the collision. Although the events leading up to the collision were yet to be established, the third car reportedly ended up underneath one of the trailers.

One person died at the accident scene.

The name of the victim was not immediately disclosed.

One passenger suffered major injuries in the accident and was airlifted to an area hospital for treatment.

No additional information about the accident was provided.
