Bakersfield, California (May 13, 2022) – Two people were injured in a collision involving a Bakersfield Police Department vehicle at an intersection in Bakersfield on Thursday morning.

The crash happened at Buena Vista Road and Ming Avenue at around 8:21 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

A white Mercedes had a green light and was traveling north when it was struck by the BPD vehicle.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 17-year-old boy, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

An officer suffered minor injuries in the collision and was taken to the hospital.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
