Andrea Dark ID’d as Woman Killed in Santa Cruz Crash on El Rancho Drive near Highway 7

Santa Cruz, California (January 13, 2021) – The Santa Cruz County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman who died in an alleged DUI crash Sunday night in Santa Cruz as Andrea Dark,28, of San Jose.
The deadly single-vehicle accident happened at about 9:45 p.m. Sunday, January 10, on El Rancho Drive near Highway 7.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2013 Volkswagen Golf was traveling southbound on El Rancho Drive at a high rate of speed when it veered off the roadway and struck a wooden utility pole.
The Volkswagen continued up a dirt embankment and hit a tree. The vehicle then rolled over and came to a rest in the roadway.
Dark, who was the right-front passenger in the Volkswagen, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Volkswagen, Jesse Lemol Vong, 30, of San Jose, was transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center to be treated for major injuries before being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
