Several People Injured in Fairfield Crash Involving Wrong-Way Driver
4 Hospitalized After Multi-Vehicle Collision on Westbound Interstate 80 near W Texas Street

Fairfield, California (May 22, 2023) – Four people were hospitalized after a wrong-way crash that happened early Monday morning in Fairfield, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident was reported at around 1:35 a.m. on the westbound Interstate 80, just west of W Texas Street.
CHP said a wrong-way driver was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes, causing a collision involving two other cars.
Officers from the Fairfield Police Department responded to the scene and found a gray Honda CR-V, a Toyota Corolla, and a third car involved in the accident.
The Corolla went off the roadway into a ditch, and the other cars were blocking traffic lanes.
The wrong-way driver was trapped inside their vehicle.
Firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene and transported three patients to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center and a fourth patient to NorthBay Health Medical Center. The extent of injuries of each patient remained unknown.
All lanes of westbound I-80 remained blocked as authorities investigated. All lanes were reopened at around 2:28 a.m.
