One Killed in San Joaquin County Crash on Highway 88 at Alpine Road

San Joaquin County, California (May 17, 2023) – One person was killed in a collision involving a big rig in San Joaquin County on Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The wreck happened on Highway 88 at Alpine Road at about 11:45 a.m. May 16.
A big rig carrying 68 cattle was traveling west on Highway 88 when it failed to stop for a red light at the intersection and collided with a gray Toyota SUV traveling northbound on Alpine Road, CHP said.
The big rig rolled over while the car was pinned under the rig’s trailer.
The woman driving the car was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the big rig was not injured.
Alcohol and drugs were not suspected to have played a role in the incident, according to the CHP.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
