1 Dies in Amador County Accident on Highway 16
Amador County, California (May 23, 2023) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Sunday in Amador County, according to California Highway Patrol.
The incident took place on Highway 16 west of Long Gate Road on Sunday, May 21.
The California Highway Patrol said a 2018 Toyota was heading west on the highway when the driver tried to pass another vehicle and collided with an oncoming 2023 Dodge.
The drivers of the Toyota and the Dodge tried to swerve to the shoulder but could not avoid a head-on collision.
The operator of the Toyota, an 81-year-old woman from Jackson, was killed in the incident.
The other driver had minor injuries.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
