1 Killed in Multi-Car Accident on 680 Freeway in San Jose

San Jose, California (February 13, 2023) – At least one person was killed in a DUI collision on Sunday night in San Jose.

The fatal crash happened on northbound 680 Freeway near Berryessa Road at around 10:52 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.

Martin Ramirez Salazar was driving a a GMC Sierra truck at a high rate of speed when he crashed into the rear of a Ford Focus.

CHP says that the driver of the Ford Focus was killed in the accident.

The name of the deceased person was not immediately disclosed.

Salazar fled the scene on foot but was later apprehended and taken into custody on suspicion of hit-and-run and driving under the influence.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
