1 Killed and 2 Injured in DUI Car Crash at V Street and 9th Street in Merced, Luis Amezcua Arrested
Merced, California (August 2, 2020) – A man was killed in suspected DUI car crash at an intersection in Merced on Saturday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly collision happened at V Street and 9th Street at about 6:50 p.m. August 1.
The driver of a 2014 black Camaro was driving a car at a high rate of speed when he allegedly ran a red light and crashed into two vehicles.
An unidentified man was killed in the accident.

A man was seriously injured in the crash and was flown to a Modesto hospital.
Two occupants of another vehicle sustained minor injuries in the accident.
The suspect, who has since been identified as 22-year-old Luis Rodriguez Amezcua, allegedly fled the scene on foot but was later arrested and charged with DUI among other charges.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
