Skateboarder Hit and Killed by Car in Riverside

Riverside, California (February 20, 2023) – A 51-year-old man riding a skateboard was struck and killed by a car Saturday night in Riverside, police said.

The incident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. on Arlington Avenue near Jones Avenue.

Riverside police and firefighters responded to the scene and found the injured skateboarder and a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Police learnt that a 72-year-old man from Alta Loma was driving the Chevy westbound on Arlington when, for unknown reasons, he hit the male skateboarder who was also in the westbound lanes of the street.

The car driver stopped and cooperated with authorities.

Police are investigating to establish the factors that might have contributed to the accident.
