Bakersfield, California (January 16, 2023) – A 13-year-old boy died after being struck by a car as he rode a scooter in Bakersfield on Sunday evening.

The fatal collision happened on Highway 99 near Arnold Avenue at around 5:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The teen was riding a skateboard and was hit by a pickup truck in unclear circumstances.

The boy was killed in the accident. The boy’s name was withheld pending notification of the next-of-kin.
