Police said Barton succumbed to her injuries the following day, on August 2
Kern County, CA – A woman who was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident on Park Way in Bakersfield earlier this month has been identified.
The Kern County Coroner's Office identified the deceased woman as 77-year-old Sheila Mae Barton.
Authorities said Sheila Barton was struck by a vehicle on Friday, August 1, at about 1:07 p.m. in the 2000 block of Park Way.
Barton was transported to Kern Medical Center with severe injuries.
Police said Barton succumbed to her injuries the following day, on August 2.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
