<strong>Several People Injured in Multi Vehicle Collision on Highway 99 in Fresno<strong>

Fresno, California (April 1, 2022) – Several people including three children were injured in a multi-vehicle collision that happened on Friday afternoon in Central Fresno.

The California Highway Patrol said the accident happened at around 5 p.m. on Highway 99 near the Clinton Avenue exit.

A Dodge truck driver reportedly sideswiped two vehicles and crashed into the back of a Toyota Corolla carrying a family of five inside.

CHP said the Dodge driver had failed to notice that vehicles in front of him had slowed down or even stopped because of rush hour traffic when the accident occurred.

Two children who were in the backseat of the Corolla sustained critical injuries, and another child suffered major injuries.

The parents, who were in the front seats, suffered major to moderate injuries.

The Dodge driver had minor injuries and was not arrested.

All the victims were rushed to Fresno Community Regional Medical Center for treatment, CPH said.

No other injuries were reported.

According to the CHP, the accident caused a temporary closure of the Highway.

Neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to be a factor in the crash.

More information about the incident was not available.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
