Jackson County, OR – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 5 in Jackson County early Sunday morning.
The deadly auto-pedestrian collision happened at about 4:50 a.m. on August 10, 2025, on Interstate 5, near milepost 35.
The Oregon State Police identified the deceased victim as Scarlet Laresia Guenther, a 50-year-old resident of Eagle Point.
Authorities said a Freightliner commercial motor vehicle and trailer, operated by Gerardo Alemanurieta, a 37-year-old resident of Riverside, CA, struck a pedestrian (Guenther).
Police said Guenther was standing in the lane of travel when the crash occurred.
Guenther was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Alemanurieta and a passenger, identified as Alfonso Casteneda, 38, were not injured.
The highway remained open during the investigation.
