Ryanul Haque Killed after Semi Hits Disabled Car on I-5 in Westley

Westley, California (August 5, 2022) – Authorities said 26-year-old Ryanul Haque of Tracy was killed when his disabled car was hit by a semi-truck Thursday morning on Interstate 5 in Westley.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 1:25 a.m. in the southbound lanes just north of the Ingram Creek Road interchange.

At around 1:15 a.m., dispatchers from the Merced Communication Center informed officers of a stalled vehicle in the right-hand lane of the freeway.

About 10 minutes later, before officers arrived at the scene, another person reported that the car had been hit.

The responders found a 2007 Lexus ES 350 on the right shoulder with major rear-end damage and the semi with crash damage to its right front end.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Haque was in his car wearing his seatbelt when the semi struck the vehicle.

A Patterson Ambulance crew responded and pronounced Haque dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi was not injured. It was not clear why the motorist did not notice the stalled Lexus.

An investigation is ongoing.
