Rudy Mercado Killed in Stanislaus County Accident on Highway 4

Stanislaus County, California (March 1, 2023) –  Rudy Mercado, 51, of Copperopollis, was among two people who died in a head-on collision that happened on Monday morning in Stanislaus County, according to a report by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office.

The wreck happened on Highway 4 just west of Dunton Road at about 6:40 a.m. February 27.

Authorities said Gurjot Kaur, 21, of Stockton, was driving a Honda sedan east on Highway 4 when she attempted to pass a vehicle ahead of her and crashed head-on into an oncoming Toyota pickup that was being driven by Mercado.

According to the report, Kaur and Mercado died in the accident.

The incident remained under investigation.
