Ronald Butler Killed in Head-On Collision on Highway 42 in Douglas County

Douglas County, Oregon (March 11, 2023) – A man was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Thursday afternoon in Douglas County.

According to Oregon State Police, the fatal crash was reported around 3:30 p.m. on March 9, on Highway 42 near milepost 68.

67-year-old Ronald Butler, of Winston, was driving a Nissan pickup truck eastbound on the highway when he collided head-on with a Peterbilt semi-truck driven by 59-year-old Scott Hayes, of Monroe.

Butler was killed in the accident.

Hayes was unhurt.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
