DPS Road Worker Hit, Killed by Semi-Truck on 10 Freeway near Guadalupe Rd in Phoenix

Phoenix, Arizona (May 18, 2023) – A road worker died in a collision at a road construction zone early Thursday morning in Phoenix.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the accident happened at around 1:30 a.m. near Interstate 10 near Guadalupe Road.

DPS says a semi-truck struck a lift vehicle at the site of construction. The impact of the collision ejected the operator from the cage of the lift and landed on the roadway.

The victim, who worked for a sub-subcontractor for the Arizona Department of Transportation, was transported to the hospital where he later died.

His name was not immediately disclosed.

The freeway lanes were blocked but were later reopened at around 5 a.m.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
