Florence, AZ – A motorcycle rider was killed in a traffic collision on Highway 287 in Florence Wednesday morning.

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office responded to the crash at around 9:30 a.m. on April 9 a.m. on State Route 287 near Village Road.

An SUV and a motorcycle were involved in the accident. The manner in which they collided was not immediately established.

The rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the deceased was not immediately disclosed.

The highway was closed in both directions for hours between Valley Farms Road and Centennial Park Avenue, and drivers were being diverted to Adamsville Road. The highway reopened shortly before 4 p.m.

The incident remains under investigation.
