Ceres, CA.- A police sergeant was injured in a crash involving a suspected DUI motorist in Ceres on Monday night, according to the Ceres Police Department.
The accident was reported at around 10:30 p.m. November 10, in the 2300 block of Herndon Road.
Authorities said the on-duty sergeant was stopped on the northbound turn lane when he noticed a southbound vehicle approaching and turned on the emergency lights on the patrol car.
The oncoming vehicle failed to slow down and crashed head-on into the patrol car.
The sergeant was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The second driver, identified as Cynthia Rae Winkler, was suspected to have been impaired.
She was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on DUI charges.
The accident is under investigation.
