Donna Munoz and 34-Year-Old Male Rider Killed in Two-vehicle Crash on Quivira Road in Mission Bay
Mission Bay, California (May 19, 2023) – Authorities have identified one of the two people who were killed in a deadly crash on Thursday afternoon in Mission Bay, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Donna Munoz, 39, of Los Angeles, and a 34-year-old motorcyclist died when their vehicles collided on Mission Bay Drive at Dana Landing just before 9 a.m. May 18.
Police said Munoz was riding in the front seat of a black Prius that was traveling west on Mission Bay Drive when it was struck by a Honda sport motorcycle.
Authorities say the Prius had just begun to make a right-hand turn when the rider tried to pass it on the right side, leading to the collision.
The motorcyclist died at the accident scene. Munoz was rushed to Scripps Mercy Hospital, where she was declared dead just after arrival.
Another female passenger in the Prius sustained minor injuries in the crash. The driver of the Prius, a 42-year-old man, and two Juvenile passengers were not injured.
The driver of the Prius and three other passengers, including two juveniles, were all transported to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Mission Bay, California (May 19, 2023) – Two people died in a motorcycle collision on Thursday afternoon in Mission Bay, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The collision took place on Mission Bay Drive at Dana Landing just before 9 a.m. on May 18.
Police said a black Prius was traveling west on Mission Bay Drive when it tried to make a right turn onto Dana Landing and was struck by a westbound motorcyclist that tried to pass the Prius on the right.
The motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle following the impact of the accident.
The rider, a 34-year-old man, and a passenger in the Prius, a 39-year-old woman, were both pronounced deceased at the scene.
Another woman in the Prius was hospitalized with minor injuries.
The driver of the Prius and two juveniles were not injured in the crash.
The cause of the deadly incident is under investigation.
