Phoenix Police Officer Seriously Injured in Wednesday Morning Crash

Phoenix, Arizona (March 16, 2023) A police officer is nursing serious injuries after a driver ran a red light and hit a patrol vehicle Wednesday morning in Phoenix.

Phoenix police were notified of the collision just after 12:30 a.m. near 40th and Oak Streets.

The officers, alongside Phoenix firefighters, responded to the scene and found the police officer trapped in the patrol car.

The officer was freed and transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Police said the driver of the other vehicle and two other passengers ran on foot after the crash. The three men were later located and detained.

The driver was hospitalized for treatment of unknown injuries.

Police said no arrests had been made, but they are investigating the crash.
