El Cajon, CA.- A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in El Cajon on Sunday morning, according to the El Cajon Police Department.
The incident occurred on Chase and Avocado avenues at about 1 a.m.
According to police, a vehicle struck a man pushing a shopping cart near the intersection.
The vehicle also sheared a hydrant and a power pole, before the driver fled the scene.
The pedestrian was was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police later located a white GMC SUV believed to have been involved in the accident.
The vehicle was found abandoned in the 500 block of Sandalwood Drive.
The driver was located and arrested at a nearby residence.
Police reported that the driver displayed signs of intoxication.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
