Pedestrian Killed in Merced Crash on East Olive Avenue

Merced, California (May 3, 2023) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Monday night in Merced, according to the Merced Police Department.

The incident took place in the 2300 block of East Olive Avenue East of McKee Road at around 8:18 p.m. May 1.

Police said a man was walking across the road to his vehicle when he was hit by a 2020 Toyota Camry traveling eastbound on East Olive Avenue.

The pedestrian, an 82-year-old man, was rushed to a hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The driver, a 38-year-old Merced woman, was unhurt and stayed at the scene. Her juvenile passenger suffered minor injuries.

Police said alcohol, drugs, and speed were not suspected in the incident.

The crash is under investigation.
