Man Dies After Being Struck by Minivan near 49th Avenue and Thunderbird Road in Phoenix
Phoenix, California (May 20, 2023) – A man died after he was hit by a minivan while crossing a street near the Arizona State University West campus.
The Phoenix crash occurred at around 11:45 a.m. on Friday near 49th Avenue and Thunderbird Road.
Police said a man was crossing Thunderbird when he was struck by a minivan traveling east.
Paramedics took the victim to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the minivan remained at the scene. Police said impairment was not considered a factor on his part.
Authorities said another driver also hit the man but drove off before police arrived.
Thunderbird Road between 47th Avenue and 51st Avenue was closed as police investigated.
