Man Killed in Bakersfield Pedestrian Crash on Olive Drive
Bakersfield, California (May 16, 2023) – A pedestrian was fatally hit by a vehicle early Sunday morning in Bakersfield, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened shortly before 4:30 a.m. on May 14, on Olive Drive, just east of State Road.
A 60-year-old man was reportedly trying to cross Olive Drive when he was hit by an eastbound 2016 Toyota.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The involved motorist stayed at the scene and reportedly cooperated with the investigators.
Authorities said the pedestrian’s dark clothing and poor lighting conditions in the area were factors in the incident.
The crash is under investigation.
