Man Killed in Long Beach Accident on Market Street
Long Beach, California (January 1, 2023) – A pedestrian was killed in an accident involving a suspected DUI motorist in Long Beach on Saturday afternoon, according to the authorities.
The wreck happened at about 5:20 p.m. December 31, in the 300 block of Market Street.
Two pedestrians, a male and a female, were reportedly trying to push a vehicle out of the roadway when a driver approached at a high rate of speed and struck the male pedestrian.
The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The victim’s identity was not immediately released.
Police arrested the driver who hit the victim on suspicion of DUI.
Market Street was shut down for the investigation.
Police are still investigating the accident.
