The accident happened at around 1:30 p.m. on Bell Road at Parkview Place, west of Bullard Avenue, according to the Surprise Police Department.
A silver four-door sedan and a black and white SUV with front-end damage were involved in the accident.
Both cars ended up partially on the sidewalk on the southeast corner of the intersection.
One person died following the incident.
The identity of the deceased was not immediately disclosed.
