Nancy Valdes Hit, Killed by Car at Calliandra Street and Alamo Drive in Palm Desert
Palm Desert, California (March 14, 2023) – Nancy Valdes, 64, has been identified as the woman who died after being struck by a car earlier this month in Palm Desert.
According to the Riverside County Fire Department, the accident happened at Calliandra Street and Alamo Drive at around 6:09 p.m. on March 4.
Valdes was walking along the street and was struck by a gray Nissan Frontier being driven eastbound by Cameron Francis Curtis, 31, of Palm Desert.
Valdes was pronounced dead at the accident by the Riverside County coroner’s office.
Curtis, a Palm Desert High School teacher and football coach, was detained at the scene on suspicion of DUI and subsequently booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.
More details about the accident were not released.
The sheriff’s Palm Desert station is investigating the cause of the accident.
