Rider Hurt in Traffic Collision on Highway 101 near Bowers Avenue Off-Ramp

Santa Clara, California (May 24, 2023) – A motorcyclist was severely hurt in a collision with a car Tuesday afternoon in Santa Clara, the California Highway Patrol said.

The incident happened at around 4:17 p.m. on the southbound Highway 101 near Bowers Avenue off-ramp.

According to CHP, a rider on a black Kawasaki Knight motorcycle was driving in and out of traffic lanes at a high rate of speed before colliding with a red Honda sedan.

Several people at the scene helped the rider move out of the roadway after the crash.

The motorcyclist sustained major injuries in the accident. Paramedics responded and transported the patient to the hospital in unknown condition.

The Nos. 1, 2, and 3 lanes remained blocked as authorities investigated.
