Rider Killed in Calaveras County Motorcycle Accident on Highway 12 near Southworth Road

Calaveras County, California (April 24, 2023) – A motorcyclist died after being involved in a crash in Calaveras County on Saturday morning

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Highway 12 near Southworth Road at around 11:30 a.m.

A motorcycle was traveling on Highway 12 when he crashed into an SUV driven by 38-year-old Shawn Powers of Valley Spring.

The rider, identified only as a 50-year-old Valley Springs man, was killed in the accident.

Power suffered “major injuries” and was transported to San Joaquin General Hospital.

Additional information about the accident was not provided.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
