3 Injured in Oxnard Accident on East Fifth Street and Buena Vista Avenue

Oxnard, California (February 4, 2023) – A motorcyclist and two officers were injured in a collision involving a police vehicle in Oxnard on Thursday afternoon, according to the authorities.

The wreck took place at East Fifth Street and Buena Vista Avenue at about 3:07 p.m. February 2.

Authorities said a private bus was stopped on eastbound Fifth Street to allow an Oxnard police pickup truck pass through the intersection.

As the police vehicle was making a left turn from northbound Buena Vista onto Fifth Street, a motorcycle rider heading west on Fifth collided with the front right bumper of the police truck.

The truck then collided with the stopped bus.

The impact threw the motorcyclist from his bike and the rider suffered moderate injuries.

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital and was said to be in stable condition.

Two police officers in the truck suffered minor injuries and declined to be transported.

The accident caused a closure of Fifth Street between Rice and Rose avenues as authorities investigated the wreck.

The investigation is ongoing.
