Colusa Woman and 16-Month-Old Boy Killed in Sutter Crash on Highway 20
Sutter, California (February 21, 2023) – Authorities are investigating a Monday night head-on collision that killed a 25-year-old Colusa woman and her 16-month-old son in Sutter.
The deadly accident happened at about 11:10 p.m., on February 20, on Highway 20.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2021 Chevrolet 3500, driven by Francisco Jauregui, was headed eastbound on the roadway when it crossed over the double-yellow lines into the westbound lane.
The Chevrolet reportedly crashed head-on into a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by the Colusa woman.
Sadly, the Colusa woman and her child sustained fatal injuries in the accident.
A 15-year-old boy sustained major injuries and was taken to Rideout Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Jauregui allegedly attempted to flee from the scene on foot but was apprehended by law enforcement.
Jauregui was arrested and is facing charges of driving under the influence, causing injury or death, two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter, attempting to flee the scene of an injury crash, and two counts of child endangerment.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
