Union County, OR – The Oregon State Police has identified a motorist killed in a Thursday afternoon head-on collision on Highway 204 in Union County as Mikel D Cribbs, 44, of Hermiston.
The traffic collision was reported at around 3:15 p.m. on April 10 on State Route 204 near milepost 33.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Cribbs was a westbound Hyundai Sonata on the highway when for unknown reasons it veered into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a John Deere tractor driven by Santiago Ramirez Tapia, 42, of North Powder.
Both vehicles suffered significant damage.
Cribbs was declared dead at the scene.
Tapia suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The highway was impacted for approximately four hours during the on-scene investigation.
An investigation is underway.
