Baker County, OR – One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 26 in Baker County on Monday evening, according to the Oregon State Police.

The OSP identified the deceased rider as Michael Allen Klaus, a 74-year-old resident of Stanfield.

The deadly collision happened on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 5:48 p.m. on Highway 26, near milepost 221 in Baker County.

According to OSP, Michael Klaus was westbound on Highway 26 on a Kawasaki Ninja when he lost control and slid into the westbound ditch.

Klaus suffered injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The highway was closed for approximately two hours as OSP officers investigated the incident.

The crash remains under investigation.
