Michael Figone Killed in Hope Ranch Accident on Marina Drive

Hope Ranch, California (May 4, 2023) – Michael Joseph Figone, 45, of Santa Barbara, has been identified as the motorcyclist who was killed in a collision with a U.S Postal Service vehicle on Tuesday afternoon in Hope Ranch, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

The wreck was reported just after 4:45 p.m. May 2, on Marina Drive near Alisa Lane.

Authorities said Figone was riding a Yamaha R6 motorcycle eastbound on Marina Drive when he slammed into the right side of the postal vehicle that was traveling westbound and was turning left onto Alisa Lane.

The impact ejected Figone from the motorcycle.

According to the report, Figone was declared deceased at the scene.

The diver of the mail truck, George Turner, 33, of Santa Barbara, was uninjured.

Authorities said alcohol and drugs do not seem to have played a role in the accident.

The crash caused the closure of Marina Drive for nearly two hours as authorities investigated the incident.

The CHP is investigating the crash.
