Maurice Maldonado Killed in Madera Accident on Avenue 12 and Road 35

Madera, California (April 29, 2023) – The man who was killed in a traffic collision in Madera County last Friday night has been identified as Maurice Anastacio Maldonado, 34, of Fresno, according to the Madera County Coroner’s Office.

The wreck happened at around 9:15 p.m. April 21, on Avenue 12 and Road 35.

Authorities said Maldonado was driving a 2016 Honda east on Avenue 12 when he failed to slow down for a 2017 Ford truck that was preparing to make a left turn from eastbound Avenue 12 onto Road 35.

The truck was being driven by Jesus Gonzalez Cardenas, 53, from Gilroy.

Maldonado was ejected by the impact of the accident. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 29-year-old Fresno woman who was a passenger in the Honda was transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries.

Two passengers in the truck, a 56-year-old woman and an 88-year-old woman from Gilroy, went to Saint Agnes Medical Center for minor injuries.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
