93-Year-Old Mary Machulda ID’d as Victim of Deadly 2-Car Crash at Magnolia Street and Garfield Avenue

Huntington Beach, California (May 19, 2023) – Authorities identified the 93-year-old woman who died in a two-vehicle collision that happened last week in Huntington Beach as Mary Margaret Machulda.
The Fountain Valley woman was involved in the accident at about 4:40 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, at Magnolia Street and Garfield Avenue.
According to the Huntington Police Department, Machulda was driving a Buick Riviera north on Magnolia when she made a left turn onto Garfield directly into the path of a southbound Jeep Wrangler.
The vehicles collided, leaving Machulda with serious injuries. She died at UCI Medical Center, where she was receiving treatment, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said.
The 48-year-old Huntington Beach man driving the Jeep was not injured. He remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Investigators said drugs and alcohol did not appear to be contributing factors.
