Mark Markham Killed in Amador County Crash on Highway 88

Amador County, California (February 5, 2023) – Mark Markham, 67, was killed in a head-on crash on Monday in Amador County, according to the authorities.

The wreck happened shortly before 2 p.m. January 30, on Highway 88, just west of Ousby Road in Jackson.

Markham was driving a 2010 Subaru Outback eastbound on Highway 88 when a westbound 2022 Jeep Compass drifted across the double yellow lines and collided head-on with the Subaru.

Authorities said Markham sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to the Sutter Roseville Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

 A 10-year-old boy who was a passenger in the Jeep, was not wearing his seatbelt and was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

The child was flown to UC Davis Medical Center.

The other driver, Kimberly Snyder, 30, of Modesto, sustained moderate injuries. She was taken to the UC Davis Medical Center for treatment.

Authorities later arrested Snyder for DUI. The investigation is ongoing.
