Man Badly Hurt in Alpine Crash on Interstate 8
Alpine, California (February 18, 2023) – A man suffered major injuries when he was struck by a big rig in Alpine on Friday evening, according to the authorities.
The crash happened on Interstate 8 near Tavern Road at around 12:45 a.m. February 17.
Authorities said the driver of a broken-down 2002 Cadillac Eldorado was standing next to it on the south side of the freeway when a tractor-trailer traveling southbound drifted to the side and struck them.
The pedestrian, a 26-year-old Lakeside man, was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego with major injuries.
At the time of the crash, a 19-year-old woman was sitting in the Cadillac while a 20-year-old Alpine man was also standing next to it. The two, along with the driver of the rig, were unharmed.
Authorities are investigating the collision.
