The dead collision happened around 1:15 p.m. on North Avenue at Temperance Avenue, and involved a Hyundai Elantra and a Freightliner semi-tractor-trailer, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Fresno County, CA – A 45-year-old man is dead following a two-vehicle crash in Fresno County Monday afternoon.
The dead collision happened around 1:15 p.m. on North Avenue at Temperance Avenue, and involved a Hyundai Elantra and a Freightliner semi-tractor-trailer, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP said the Elantra was heading westbound on North Avenue approaching the intersection with Temperance Avenue. At the same time, the Freightliner was going eastbound on North Avenue, also approaching the intersection. CHP said the driver of the Elantra made a left turn directly into the path of the Freightliner, and the two vehicles collided.
Both vehicles came to rest in an orange orchard at the corner of the intersection.
CHP said the intersection is controlled only for eastbound and westbound traffic, but the northbound traffic is not controlled.
A man in the Hyundai sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead.
The driver of the semi-tractor was not injured.
Investigators said alcohol and/or drugs were not a factor in the incident.
The accident remains under investigation.
