Emergency crews arrived at the scene and declared the pedestrian dead due to the collision. The name of the victim was not immediately released.
Officials did not say if the involved driver remained at the scene or fled the scene after the crash.
Authorities closed the roadway briefly as a result of the crash.
An investigation is ongoing.
Peter Lazarus, an experienced attorney at the Pacific Attorney Group, says that distracted drivers cause most of the pedestrian accidents.
“A driver who is talking to a passenger or who is texting while driving or talking on the phone may not see a pedestrian until it is too late. Additional causes may include defective auto parts, such as faulty brakes that prevent a driver from stopping at an intersection to allow a pedestrian to cross the street,” says Lazarus.
