The California Highway Patrol reported that Ruiz was driving a Scion XD on the freeway when the car burst into flames and became disabled

Long Beach, CA.- The woman who died in a collision in Long Beach on Monday night has been identified as Laura Sanchez Ruiz, 46, of Pico Rivera, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office.
The incident took place on the 91 Freeway, just east of Cherry Avenue, at about 10:29 p.m. May 12.
The California Highway Patrol reported that Ruiz was driving a Scion XD on the freeway when the car burst into flames and became disabled.
A Toyota Camry passing by sideswiped the stalled vehicle and pushed it into Ruiz, who had stepped out of her vehicle.
The impact sent Ruiz into the westbound lanes and she was hit by other cars.
Ruiz was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The CHP is conducting an investigation into the collision.
