Man Killed in Santa Monica Crash on Santa Monica Freeway at Lincoln Boulevard Overpass

Santa Monica, California (August 15, 2021) – A 58-year-old Las Vegas man was killed in a Saturday evening multi-vehicle accident in Santa Monica, authorities said.
The deadly accident occurred at about 5:46 p.m., on August 14, on Santa Monica (10) Freeway outside the McClure Tunnel at the Lincoln Boulevard overpass.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the Las Vegas man was driving a 2015 Land Rover at a high rate of speed before he collided with a 2021 Tesla and a 2009 Infiniti, causing the Infiniti to crash into a 2016 Dodge.
The Land Rover reportedly crashed into a 2019 Kia, overturned, and collided with a 2018 Jeep, causing the Jeep to slam into a Honda and a Toyota.
Sadly, the man who was in one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 29-year-old Santa Monica woman in the Jeep was hospitalized with major injuries.
Traffic on the roadway was stopped for an unknown period due to the collision.
It was not clear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
Further details regarding the accident were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
