Bakersfield, CA – A 16-year-old girl was killed after two vehicles collided at an intersection in Bakersfield Sunday evening.
The Kern County coroner identified the deceased teen passenger as Juana Jasmine Orozco Guerrero, of Bakersfield.
The deadly collision happened just after 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, at the intersection of Union Avenue and Panorama Drive.
The Bakersfield Police Department responded to the scene and found a Hyundai and a Jeep that were involved in the crash
Investigators learned that the Jeep was heading west on Panorama Drive when it entered the northbound lane of Union Avenue and collided with the Hyundai, which was heading northbound.
A 16-year-old female passenger, later identified as Juana Guerrero, was found with severe injuries inside the Hyundai.
Responding medical crews performed lifesaving measures on her to no avail.
Guerrero was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Hyundai and two additional passengers in the Hyundai were hospitalized with moderate injuries.
Authorities said a man in the Jeep was also hospitalized with moderate injuries.
No additional details were provided.
The crash is under investigation but police believe speed and intoxication were a factor in the collision.
