Juan Cornejo Killed in Car Accident on 5 Freeway near Gopher Canyon Rd in Escondido
San Diego, California (May 17, 2023) – Juan Cornejo, 32, has been identified by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office as the man who was killed in a car crash last week near Escondido.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at around 2:30 a.m. on May 7, on southbound 5 Freeway near Gopher Canyon Road.
Cornejo had stopped his Dodge sedan for unknown reasons when it was struck by an Infiniti sedan.
The Temecula man was ejected onto the roadway and was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
