Jonathan Reyes Among 11 Injured in Sutter County Collision on Highway 20 and Humphrey Road

Sutter County, California (September 23, 2022) – Jonathan Reyes, 34, of Colusa, was among several people injured in a crash involving a suspected DUI driver in Sutter County on Wednesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The wreck happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. September 21, on Highway 20 at Humphrey Road.

CHP said Mariah Lindsey Lopez, 31, of Meridian, was heading north on Humphrey Road when she failed to yield at the intersection of Highway 20 and was struck by a red 2018 Jeep Compass traveling westbound on Highway 20.

Firefighters responded to the scene and helped pull out parties trapped in the wreckage.

11 people, including children, were taken to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, Adventist Health and Rideout in Marysville, Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael, and Enloe Medical Center in Chico with moderate to major injuries.

CHP said one of the children, a 12-year-old girl, was flown to UC Davis Medical Center with major injuries including a broken femur.

Reyes was the driver of the Jeep and was hospitalized with moderate injuries.

Lopez was hospitalized with major injuries and was later arrested at the hospital on suspicion of DUI causing injury.

The crash caused a closure of both sides of Highway 20 for nearly two hours as crews worked to clear the scene.

The CHP is handling the investigation.

Sutter County, California (September 21, 2022) – Several people were injured in a traffic collision that happened just west of Yuba City in Sutter County on Wednesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision happened on Highway 20 and Humphrey Road. 

CHP said two vehicles were involved in the accident, whose cause was under investigation.

At least nine people were injured in the accident. At least two of the injured parties were minors.

Authorities said the patients were being treated for moderate to major injuries.

An infant involved in the collision was unharmed.

Both lanes of the road were shut down due to the incident.

No further details were released.

The CHP is conducting an investigation into the collision.
