Ross was walking on the southbound side of Chester Avenue with another man when Ross was hit by a pickup

Bakersfield, CA.- John Dwayne Ross, 48, of Bakersfield, was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident in Bakersfield last week on Wednesday, according to the Kern County Coroner's Office.
The incident took place on Chester Avenue north of West Columbus Street shortly before 4 a.m. April 23.
Ross was walking on the southbound side of Chester Avenue with another man when Ross was hit by a pickup.
The driver fled the scene after the accident.
Authorities reported that Ross was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The second pedestrian was struck by debris ftom the crash and sustained minor injuries.
Authotities later arrested a suspect in connection with the crash.
The suspect, Bobby Lemons, 35, was booked into the Kern County Jail on charges of hit-and-run causing death.
The accident is under investigation
