Joe Alvarez Killed in Fatal Fresno Collision on Highway 180

Fresno, California (April 26, 2023) – Joe Alvarez, 33, of Fresno, was among two people killed in a car accident on Tuesday in eastern Fresno County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The wreck occurred at about 11:20 a.m. April 25, on Highway 180, near Alta and Frankwood Avenue.
According to the CHP, a Jeep Liberty was traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on the highway when it went across the double yellow lines and collided head-on with a Chevy pickup truck.
Alvarez, who was driving the Jeep, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the Jeep, Analiea Alvarez, 13, of Fresno, was airlifted to a hospital, where she later died.
The driver of the Chevy, Christopher McAlster, 44, of Woodlake, was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.
A 16-year-old and a 4-year-old riding in the Chevy were not injured.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
